I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings

Welcome back..... today's topic is what does the writer do to engage me in the content of the book. Angelou uses several things but her most frequently used is the language. It is not very restricted she tells the story exactly how she remembers it. Not doctoring it in anyway. She also keeps you engaged by simply tell her story not sugar coating or changing it to satisfy anyone. This keeps me wanting to read the book because the stories are super interesting, but at the same time you are learning an underline life lesson.

  1. 6/6 entries for 9/4/09--work to have at least 250-350 words per entry. As it is, it is hard to tell what, if anything, you have read in between your entries.

I appreciate your enthusiasm for the book! In class, we'll read a short excerpt of it in the Bedford Reader. You'll have to set the essay into the context of the larger book for us.

    Happy Reading!
